Sweet, Mellow, Shy, Gentle, Former Research Dog, Future Beloved Pet - Has Medical Needs
Beluga is a 5-year-old, 18 lb Beagle who is as sweet and gentle as her name suggests. She's a former research dog who is now learning what it's like to be a cherished family member. Beluga is curious but cautious, and startles easily, so she's still building her trust in humans. She loves to follow her people around and gravitates towards other animals, learning from her foster siblings how to interact with humans. She's slowly finding her voice, barking when other dogs bark or when someone approaches the door. Beluga enjoys napping in her comfy bed or crate and is a great car rider, snuggling up with her foster brother for comfort. She's working on potty training and sitting for treats, and is making great progress when encouraged to go outside. Beluga will need a patient adopter with a calm and peaceful home environment to continue her training and socialization, showering her with the love and encouragement she deserves.
Ideal Home
Beluga would do best in a home with older children who are not prone to loud noises or fast movements, as she can startle easily. She is good with calm dogs and has shown she can coexist with cats.
Ongoing Health
Beluga has allergies, which may be primarily environmental. She receives Cytopoint injections every 4-6 weeks to manage her itching. She also has grade 1-2 dental disease and will require a dental cleaning in the future. Her adopter should consult with a veterinarian for ongoing treatment recommendations for both her allergies and dental health.
Training & Support
