Rufio

Meet Rufio, a 66-pound Cane Corso mix who is working on reaching his ideal weight of 75 pounds with his foster mom! This sweet, shy boy was rescued from the streets in early January 2026 and is learning daily that he can trust humans. He has a gentle temperament and, while it takes him a little time to warm up to new people, he quickly seeks affection and cuddles once he feels safe. Rufio adores his foster mom and her two children, ages 9 and 11, with the 9-year-old being his absolute favorite! He is a bit intimidated by his foster dad but has shown no aggression, simply retreating, and his foster family is taking things slow.

Rufio would thrive in a patient home that can help him feel safe and loved. He enjoys calm, well-mannered canine companions who can help him build confidence.

Ongoing Health

Rufio is currently underweight, but his foster mom is working to help him reach his target weight.

Training & Support

Rufio is house-trained and signals when he needs to go outside. He is also crate-trained for when his family is away and tolerates a secured crate without accidents. He sleeps through the night and is happy to snooze near his humans, whether in bed or in his crate. While he's generally quiet, he may emit a soft whimper when excited or unsure, and a short, endearing howl when his foster mom leaves.
