Chido

Charming Chido is a 63 lb, 4-year-old American Bulldog mix with a heart full of love to give. Despite a rough start on the streets of Houston, Chido remains incredibly trusting and gentle, especially with cats, which speaks volumes about his sweet nature. He makes friends easily with both people and other animals.

Chido enjoys short walks, playing with his toys, and, as his name suggests, naps! He is gentle with children and most dogs, though he can be a bit selective with canine companions. As long as other dogs are not overly boisterous or demanding, Chido will likely get along just fine.

Ideal Home

Chido thrives in a calm and patient household. He would do best with someone who works from home or is retired, as he suffers from separation anxiety and enjoys having a companion. He is an indoor companion and deserves all the love and comfort a home can offer. Loud noises like thunder, lightning, and fireworks can frighten him, but he calms down quickly with reassurance and a comforting presence.

Ongoing Health

Chido is heartworm positive and is currently on a slow-kill medication (HARTGUARD), which is an affordable monthly pill. He should be tested annually to monitor his heartworm status. He also suffers from occasional hip arthritis, which can make it difficult for him to move initially. This has only occurred twice in recent months and is thought to stem from an old injury. X-rays showed inflammation but no broken bones. Hip massages and rest usually help him recover. Aside from these conditions, Chido is a healthy and loving companion.

Training & Support

Chido walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, and is potty trained. His separation anxiety will require patience and a consistent routine.
