Raven, an 8-10 year old female Terrier/Chihuahua mix, is a sweet and cuddly girl who loves to play! She was surrendered to the shelter when her previous owner moved out of the country. Raven is incredibly devoted to her foster mom and follows her everywhere. While she was initially selective with men and other dogs, she has made significant progress after six months in foster care and is now starting to accept them. She knows the "sit" command and is working on "stay," though her desire to be close to her foster mom makes it a bit challenging! Raven enjoys chewing on bones and occasionally plays with toys. She also has a fondness for blueberries, carrots, and lettuce!
Ideal Home
Raven would thrive in a calm and quiet environment where she won't get overstimulated. She is not good with children and is not recommended for a home with cats. She can be selective with other dogs, doing best with a submissive canine companion. Raven would do well as an only pet if left loose while you are away.
Ongoing Health
Raven is a survivor! She had two full chains of mammary tumors that were successfully removed. After biopsy, the veterinarian is optimistic about her long-term health with a low chance of recurrence. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative.
Training & Support
Raven has a history of past bites, particularly when things are taken away from her. She has shown some aggression towards men and other dogs when she doesn't get her way, though this has improved. She does not like having things taken away from her. Raven is outdoor and pee-pad trained and will go to her crate immediately when told. She is currently being crated when her foster mom is away due to past issues with other dogs, but she has started to be left out for short periods.
