About Gus - Loyal, Funny, Affectionate, and Full of Personality

Gus is a 7-year-old, 44-pound brown/red Lab mix who may be entering his senior years, but you would never know it — he is still very much a puppy at heart. Neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines, Gus is a happy, loving boy who is ready to find a family to call his own. Gus loves to play and has a BIG personality packed into his medium-sized frame. Toys are one of his favorite things in the world, especially stuffed animals with squeakers. He is more than happy to entertain himself throughout the day with his toys, though ropes and tennis balls are also high on his list of favorites. Like many dogs, he can show a little resource guarding with especially high-value items like favorite toys or bones, so that is something his future family should be mindful of. He enjoys his morning walks and is easy on a leash, making him a wonderful companion for a daily stroll. Gus also takes his backyard patrol duties very seriously — he keeps a close eye on the squirrels and is always ready to let you know if he spots something interesting. After some playtime, a walk, and a little neighborhood surveillance, Gus is more than happy to settle in for a cozy nap. Gus is currently living with a female German Shepherd and does well with her. He is dog-friendly, though he can sometimes get a little too much in another dogs space, so he would do best with a tolerant canine companion who does not mind helping remind him about personal boundaries. His foster sister has been a great teacher, and Gus is learning. One of Gus's sweetest qualities is how affectionate and devoted he is. He is a true Velcro dog who loves being near his people and happily follows them around to keep them company. He especially loves morning snuggles with coffee and brings such a warm, comforting presence to everyday life. He is the kind of dog who will make you smile every single day — a loving companion, a playful best friend, and a devoted sidekick all in one.
