Chewie is a handsome 5-year-old chocolate Lab with a big heart and an even bigger personality! At 92 pounds of pure enthusiasm, this friendly boy loves life and isn't shy about showing it. Chewie has spent his whole life with his person since he was just 6 weeks old, so he knows what it means to be part of a family. He's house-trained, knows his basic commands, and has lived peacefully with a cat his whole life. He gets along well with other dogs, though given his size and excitement level, slow introductions are important. A true Lab at heart, Chewie lives for his Chuckit and would happily play fetch all day if you let him. Daily walks are another favorite, and after a good session of exercise, he transforms into a chill companion ready to relax at home. He's a people person through and through, greeting everyone with enthusiasm and soaking up all the pets and attention he can get. Chewie can get overstimulated in new situations, so slow introductions work best for him. He also experiences anxiety, which can be eased by a consistent routine and clear structure. While he hasn't spent much time around children, his friendly nature means he could potentially do well with older kids in an active household that understands his need for patient introductions and steady routines. If "Big Lovable Goofball" sounds like your soulmate, Chewie is the dog for you. He’s a fun, happy guy! Chewie is the kind of dog who can’t help but make you smile no matter how tough a day you’ve had. He’ll bring great joy to your life.
Ideal Home
We’d love to see him go to a home with a yard to play fetch and someone around much of the day as that is what he is used to. His enthusiastic greetings mean he’d be best in a home without very young or very old people who might be unstable on their feet.
Ongoing Health
He has a scar on the right side of his head where he was attacked by an older dog when he was only a few weeks old. One eye doesn’t close all the way but his vision is not affected. He has environmental allergies, and weekly baths with Malaseb have helped keep him comfortable and itch-free. Chewie had TPLO surgeries on both legs a few years ago. Chewie is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped.
