Cato is an 8-week-old, approximately 3 lb, male mixed-breed puppy with a zest for life! He's a bundle of energy who loves to play and romp, but once he's tired, he transforms into a snuggly cuddle bug. Cato enjoys his toys and treats and is making great progress with potty training, rarely having accidents in the house. He's also learning to walk on a leash and sleeps through the night in his crate, waiting patiently for morning. Cato can be a little shy initially but warms up quickly and is eager to make new friends. He’s been around other dogs and is great with kids, though he’s not yet been introduced to cats.
Ideal Home
Cato would thrive in a home where he receives plenty of playtime, affection, and consistent training. Given his puppy energy and tendency to jump, a home with children is suitable, but supervision during interactions is key.
Ongoing Health
Cato will need to complete his puppy vaccinations and will require a rabies vaccine once he's old enough. A condition of adoption is that Cato must be spayed/neutered by 9/30/26. The foster-to-adopt family will schedule this appointment with one of their partner clinics in Delaware when Cato is around 4.5 months old. This appointment is mandatory and is a condition of adoption.
Training & Support
As with any puppy, Cato is a blank slate and will require ongoing training, including continued housebreaking and socialization, to help him grow into a well-behaved adult dog. He is still learning boundaries and needs to be taught which toys are appropriate for chewing. Supervision is important, especially around children and other animals, as puppies are fragile and can be mouthy during their teething phase.
