Ernesto is a 4.5-year-old, approximately 60 lb medium mixed breed who is neutered and doing wonderfully! He came to us as a stray from NYC, where the shelter environment was understandably overwhelming for him. This led to some fear-based behaviors like leash biting and head whipping. Thankfully, a loving couple stepped in to save him, and he's been on an incredible journey of learning that people can be kind, toys are for fun, and trust is a beautiful thing. He's a fast learner who adores toys, is incredibly social, and has even learned to love his crate as his personal snack den! Ernesto is a sweet lovebug who is toy-obsessed and a total foodie – he'll politely ask for ice cubes and EZ Cheez. He's also a smart cookie who loves puzzles and figuring things out.
Ideal Home
Ernesto would thrive in an active household that enjoys playtime and games. He would benefit from a home with access to outdoor space, like a backyard or nearby park, as he prefers grass and trees for his potty breaks. He's doing great with older kids (13+) and loves meeting new people. He's also interested in other dogs and is non-reactive on leash. While his history with cats is unknown, he is generally very social.
Ongoing Health
Ernesto is neutered and has no known ongoing health conditions.
Training & Support
Ernesto is housetrained and crate-trained, viewing his crate as a safe space for relaxation and snacks. He's improving quickly on leash and continues to work on his excitement jumping around people. He's a fast learner who would benefit from a family committed to continuing his training and helping him transition into his forever family.
