MEET BUBBA — 3 YEARS OLD, LAB/PYRENEES MIX
Some dogs walk into your life, and you can immediately feel how badly they want to belong. Bubba is one of them. This big, gentle boy came from Louisiana and was surrendered to the shelter with two other dogs when his owner could no longer afford to care for them. He didn't understand why everything familiar disappeared overnight — he just knew he had to start over.
Today, Bubba is finally safe, secure, and understood. He is around 70 pounds and working his way back to his healthy weight of about 80 pounds. He's a big, loving Lab/Pyrenees mix with the sweetest soul.
He is excellent in the house — fully potty-trained, quiet, and not destructive. He doesn't chew, and he's not a fan of wood floors. Putting a few throw rugs down helps him feel more confident and comfortable moving around the home. He absolutely loves being outdoors and enjoys both dog and cat friends. He needs room to run, so a secure fenced yard is required.
He is more comfortable with women than men. Being pulled by a collar or leash scares him, so he must be walked on a harness.
He is a very good boy: shy, timid, and gentle. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. A potential adopter must be patient and allow him at least two weeks to acclimate. The ideal home is someone retired or home most of the day, with another friendly dog to help him feel secure.
Bubba is a shadow dog — the kind who follows you from room to room, grateful just to be near someone who cares. He doesn't ask for much, just kindness, consistency, and a family who will not give up on him.

Ongoing Health
Bubba has some teeth that are ground down, likely from chewing on something rough during a difficult period in his past. Dogs that are tied out sometimes chew to get off the chain. The good news is that he has no pain and eats normally. Its simply a reminder of what he has overcome and how ready he is for a better life.
Bubba has tested positive for heartworm. He shows no symptoms and is currently on slow-kill treatment. All necessary medications will be provided to the adopter, and additional details about his care will be shared once an application is submitted. He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped.
