Meet Rio!

This charming 1-year-old, 19lb Chihuahua & Dachshund mix is full of love to give. Rio can be a bit shy at first, but with a little time and a tasty treat, his affectionate and loyal personality will shine through. He enjoys snuggling in blankets and will often sneak around corners just to get a peek at you. He's great with cats and loves other dogs, though he does benefit from slow introductions to larger dogs to help him feel more comfortable. Once he's settled, he's playful and sweet.

Ideal Home

Rio would thrive in a calm home where he can feel safe and secure, as he can be timid initially. He would do best without young children. A fenced-in yard is ideal for him to continue working on his leash walking skills in a safe space.

Ongoing Health

Rio is potty trained and crate trained. He loves his crate so much that we hope his forever home can provide him with 24/7 access to it, allowing him to retreat when he chooses.

Training & Support

Rio is still learning leash manners and would do best with a patient adopter willing to help him build confidence and practice his walking skills. With consistency and encouragement, he's sure to become a wonderful walking companion.
