Auggie

Auggie is an adorable 5-year-old, 16 lb Pug/Chihuahua mix who was picked up as a stray and never reclaimed. He was highly stressed in the shelter, so we were thrilled to bring him into our care. Auggie has the personality of a Chihuahua with the charming looks of a Pug. He's a sweet and silly boy who loves to cuddle and expects full furniture privileges. He also adores his toys! Auggie enjoys playing with other energetic dogs of similar size, but he can be intimidated by larger dogs. Older dogs might not appreciate his enthusiastic nature. He gets along with dog-savvy cats, but he wouldn't be a good fit for cats who aren't used to dogs. Auggie is a resource guarder, which is why he cannot be placed in a home with children. He has very sensitive hearing and will alert you to sounds like the UPS truck, so apartment living is not ideal for him. Auggie is crate trained and house-trained when kept on a schedule. He loves going for walks and car rides.

Ideal Home

Auggie is seeking a local, adult-only home with a fenced yard and a similarly sized, energetic playmate. He needs a home where his sensitive hearing will not be an issue and apartment living is not suitable.

Ongoing Health

Auggie is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, tested negative for heartworm, and is on prevention. He does need to lose a couple of pounds.

Training & Support

Auggie is crate trained and house-trained when on a schedule. Due to his resource guarding tendencies, he requires guidance and a patient owner who can manage this behavior appropriately.
