Hi there! My name is Big Sur, but you can call me "Sur." I'm about 2 years old and I'm a handsome boy with fur the color of sandy beaches and golden eyes that glow like the California sunset. My foster mom says I'm the total beach package, especially with my custom waterproof ocean blue collar!
I'm a social boy who loves to hang with my people. I have a lot of energy, but I also tire out pretty easily. As long as I get a good walk or some exercise like fetch, disc, springpole, or swimming each day, I'm a rock star! My typical day involves waking up, eating breakfast, and going for a nice long walk. During the day, I rotate between chilling in my large kennel and hanging out with my foster family. Evenings are for playtime and training, and I'm a perfect angel in my kennel at night.
I LOVE toys and can be a little possessive, but I'm learning that sharing and trading games are way more fun! My favorite game, though, is tug – I was born for it! I have the best sit ever, and I also know down. I'm learning to heel too!
Now, about cats... I have a superpower called prey drive, which means I love to chase! While it's great for playing fetch, it also means I'd love to chase squirrels, birds, bunnies, and cats. My family will always need to be aware of and manage this responsibly.
I do have a doggie best friend named Luna, a pint-sized pit bull who plays rough and tells me off when I get to be too much. I appreciate her, but I can be a bit of a linebacker when I play – I come on hot and don't always realize my own strength or size. Other dogs don't always appreciate my enthusiastic play style, so I'm likely best as your only dog, though a female dog similar to Luna might work.
If I could be anywhere, I'd be with my person, wherever they are going!
Ideal Home
I need an active family who can provide daily exercise. Due to my prey drive, my home must be able to manage that responsibly. I'm also likely best as an only dog, though a female dog similar to my best friend Luna might be a possibility.
Ongoing Health
I was found with heartworms, but I am now completely cured and a healthy, active boy!
Training & Support
I can get unruly if I don't get enough exercise, so daily activity is key. I'm learning to manage my toy possessiveness and am working on my play skills with other dogs.
