Ravioli may not be the dog running up to greet every stranger he meets, but for the person willing to earn his trust, he'll show you just how special he truly is. Heeler x Kelpie mix, estimated to be around 2 years old and weighing approximately 40 pounds, Ravioli came to us as a stray, so very little is known about his past. Shelter life has been overwhelming for this sensitive boy, and he's hoping someone will give him the chance to discover what it means to feel safe and loved. Ravioli can be fearful around new people and needs time to warm up. He isn't the type of dog who will instantly jump into your lap. He is looking for someone patient, understanding, and willing to let the relationship develop at his pace. Once he realizes you're a friend, his sweet personality begins to shine through. One thing that gives Ravioli confidence? Other dogs. He has done well in playgroups and often seems more comfortable navigating new situations when canine friends are nearby. Ravioli is already making progress. The shelter's behavior coordinator has started working with him, and he has been responding beautifully to training. He's showing everyone that underneath his nervous exterior is a dog who wants to connect. He just needs someone willing to show him the way. Ravioli does not need someone to "fix" him. He needs someone who understands that trust is earned, not rushed. Someone who will celebrate the small victories: the first tail wag, the first nudge for affection, the first time he chooses to rest his head in your lap. Those moments are worth everything. Ravioli is scheduled to move onto the shelter's at risk list in early July, with his time becoming increasingly limited as the month progresses. Our greatest hope is that he never reaches that point – that someone sees beyond his fear and recognizes the wonderful dog waiting underneath.
Ideal Home
We believe Ravioli may do best in a home without cats or other small animals, due to his play style and instincts. He needs someone patient, understanding, and willing to let the relationship develop at his pace.
