About Trix
Trix is an 8-month-old, 35-pound Pitbull mix with the sweetest, smartest soul, though she may seem shy at first. She was surrendered to a shelter in Houston with her brother and was the more reserved of the two. While her brother has found his forever home, Trix needed extra time in foster care to build confidence. She was significantly undersocialized early in life, and her baseline is fear of humans. However, she has never shown any reactivity; when unsure, she simply looks for a safe place to hide. Trix is gentle and quiet, but incredibly observant, picking things up quickly. She figured out the doggy door within days and is always learning. With patience and intentional time spent building trust, she becomes more comfortable and may even surprise you by playing with toys, running with other dogs, or cuddling on the couch. Trix does well with other dogs after proper acclimation and would likely thrive with a confident canine companion. She is housebroken, loves her crate, and is learning to walk on a leash. Trix has been around kids and is quiet. Her history with cats is unknown. She appears to be a low-rider mix and will likely be a medium-sized dog when fully grown. Trix needs a home where someone is around often to help her build trust and confidence, as she is not a ready-made confident dog. She requires patience, compassion, and commitment, but the reward will be extraordinary as she discovers the world isn't so scary and that she is safe and loved.
Ideal Home
Trix needs a home where someone is around more often than not, both because she's still a puppy and because building trust takes time and consistency. She would likely thrive with a confident canine companion to follow and learn from, though adopters without another dog should have a thoughtful plan for socialization and confidence building.
