Meet Briar! ❤️
Briar is a sweet, gentle soul who is learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. Rescued from the Stanislaus Shelter, this handsome boy is looking for a patient family that will give him the time and understanding he needs to truly blossom. While Briar is still very shy, he's making little victories every day. He may run away when someone makes eye contact, but he's learning to trust and now happily accepts gentle pets all over. In fact, he has even started choosing to snuggle up next to his foster family's young son on the couch - a huge milestone for this timid pup. One of our favorite updates? Briar has finally started playing with toys! Watching him discover how to simply be a dog has been incredibly rewarding. Briar feels safest around other friendly dogs and would likely thrive in a home with a confident canine companion who can help show him the ropes. He still likes to retreat under tables or behind furniture when he's feeling overwhelmed, but his excitement for walks is impossible to miss. He's currently a bit of a puller on leash, but as his confidence grows, he'll continue learning his walking manners. At bedtime, Briar has decided he'd much rather sleep in his foster's room than in his crate - a sweet sign that he's beginning to seek comfort from his people. Like many dogs who haven't experienced much kindness, car rides are still scary for him, but each new experience is helping him build confidence. We know there is an amazing dog waiting to emerge, and we can't wait to see his true personality shine. Briar isn't looking for perfection - he's looking for patience. If you're willing to let him move at his own pace, celebrate the little wins, and show him unconditional love, you'll have the privilege of watching one of the most rewarding transformations imaginable. If you believe the best relationships are built on trust, Briar may just be the perfect addition to your family.
