Hoku

Meet Hoku! He's a handsome male blue merle Australian Shepherd, approximately 8 years old and weighing about 55 lbs. Hoku came into rescue as an owner surrender, and while his past wasn't perfect, he's doing his best to move forward with love, patience, and plenty of snacks. He's a classic Aussie through and through: he loves hanging out while his foster works from home, enjoys exploring at his own pace, and is a big fan of naps. Hoku is very smart, obedient, and a total snuggle bug who will follow his foster everywhere and proudly protect his house.

Ideal Home

Hoku is looking for a family who can provide him with positive reinforcement training only, a 6-foot privacy fence, and no other pets – he'd like to be your one and only! Older kids are okay, but toddlers are not a good fit for him. He's active, loyal, and deeply devoted once he trusts you, and he just needs someone willing to see the good boy he truly is and help him continue healing. He also needs plenty of cuddles and companionship.

Ongoing Health

Hoku is neutered, up to date on vaccines (except Lepto & Bordetella), and microchipped. His heartworm status is unknown, with his last known treatment being on 2/25/2021.

Training & Support

With time, positive-only training, patience, and lots of treats, Hoku has made huge progress in his foster home and is learning that the world can be safe again.
