About RITCHEY ROO (aka Richard)

Ritchey, affectionately known as "Ritchey Roo," is an estimated 5-6 year old, 90 lb bundle of joy who embodies an "exuberant, jubilant, and yet laid-back" personality. He was once underweight, but has since gained his pounds back, perhaps a little too well – he's currently on a mission to slim down! Ritchey is a dog who truly thrives on human companionship and loves to lounge, whether indoors or out. He's a happy boy who isn't shy about expressing his affection and enjoys being near his people. While he can be a quiet couch potato, he also has bursts of energy, transforming from zero to ten the moment a leash or you appears! Ritchey can be gentle but also gets excited, especially around food or when it's time for a walk, sometimes leading to jumping and invading personal space. He's also a vocal pup with a lot to say, adding a humorous soundtrack to your life. He's house-trained and comfortable being left alone. Ritchey loves to sleep in bed with his human and has learned the command "OVER" to create some personal space. He's not particularly interested in toys or fetch but enjoys car rides and walks, though he does require significant leash training due to being a strong puller. Ultimately, Ritchey is content with lounging at home and exploring a yard. He's independent enough not to be a velcro dog but loves being in your company. He's done well in foster and boarding environments, where he's considered easy to care for and good company.

Ideal Home

Ritchey would thrive in a home with a fenced yard and ideally with people who understand his exuberant expressions of life. He is looking to be the only spoiled pup in the home and does not seem to be interested in other dogs.

Ongoing Health

Ritchey is currently a bit overweight and would benefit from a diet and/or increased physical activity.

Training & Support

Ritchey requires significant leash training as he is a strong puller. He can also be overly excited and jump on people, especially when food or a leash is involved, so continued guidance on managing his excitement is recommended.
