About Cricket

Bonded pair Cricket and Mochi have overcome so much and are finally ready for a forever home—together. These sweet, gentle, and loving girls are looking for a calm and stable environment where they can continue to thrive.

Cricket and Mochi came into rescue with a significant story. They were part of a surrender of 10 dogs when their owner had to enter a nursing home. Project Freedom Ride helped bring them to safety, but these two brave girls needed more than just rescue; they needed healing. After multiple surgeries, dental work, and a lot of TLC, Cricket and Mochi are now healthy, comfortable, and ready to find their forever home, always together.

Meet Mochi Mochi is a 7+ year old, 14 lb Wire-Haired Terrier Mix. She may have a permanently grumpy little face, but underneath that is a calm, affectionate cuddle bug. Mochi is the confident half of this duo and quietly watches over Cricket. She had several masses removed, all of which were benign, and while she may develop more in the future, she is currently happy and feeling great. Mochi also has a heart murmur; she is on medication and is asymptomatic.

Mochi's Highlights:

  • Calm, affectionate, and loyal
  • Confident and easygoing
  • Loves frozen Kongs
  • Great on leash

Meet Cricket Cricket is an 8+ year old, 13 lb Chihuahua. She is a gentle, sensitive soul who has overcome so much. She arrived with a large hernia and a damaged eye, both of which have now been successfully treated. Today, she is finally living pain-free. Cricket is shy at first, but once she trusts you, she melts into soft affection and belly rubs. She leans on Mochi for confidence, and their bond is truly special, which is why they are being adopted as a bonded pair.

Cricket's Highlights:

  • Sweet, gentle, and loving
  • Gains confidence from Mochi
  • Loves bully sticks
  • Prefers shredded chicken mixed with kibble

Ideal Home

These girls are looking for a calm, stable home where they can continue to thrive together. They require a fenced yard, and apartments are not suitable as Cricket is still building leash confidence. Ideally, they would do best in a home without small children. They are good with dog-friendly, calm, and respectful dogs. They are 90% housebroken, with Mochi seeming to be slower to catch on. They are crate-trained.

Ongoing Health

Mochi has a heart murmur and is on medication; she is currently asymptomatic. She also had several masses removed, which were benign, and may develop more in the future. Cricket had a large hernia and a damaged eye, both of which have been successfully treated and she is now pain-free.

Training & Support

Mochi is still working on her house-training. Cricket is building leash confidence and needs a home that can support this.
