Rusty

Rusty is a handsome, approximately five-year-old, golden retriever mix who has had a bit of a rough start to life. After being lost in Central IL for over a month, he finally made his way to us and is now safely in a foster home, acclimating well. Rusty spent most of his life surviving on the streets of Florida until he was rescued two years ago and then spent two years in a shelter. Despite his past, he's a total couch potato who loves to snuggle with his foster family and enjoys his toys. He's a pretty chill and well-mannered guy who appreciates the comforts of indoor living.

Ideal Home

Rusty needs a patient and understanding family that will help him come out of his shell. He would do best in a home with calm, mellow female dogs and would likely not do well with rambunctious dogs. He also requires a secure fence. Rusty would not do well around rambunctious toddlers, as they would make him nervous.

Ongoing Health

Rusty's adoption fee is sponsored (free). This includes vaccinations, neuter, heartworm test, microchip, wormer, and heartworm and flea prevention while in our care.

Training & Support

Rusty is shy until he gets to know you, but he loves attention and it won’t take him long before he starts doing the happy dog dance when he sees you. He is house and kennel trained.
