About SC/Dixie

Dixie is a purebred Brittany, approximately 3 years old and weighing about 36 pounds. She is a total sweetheart and very smart, ready to find her forever home. Dixie was surrendered to a shelter due to her former owner not having enough time for her. She was previously a hunting dog, and while she still has great hunting instincts, she appears to be gun shy. Thankfully, NBRAN stepped in and pulled her from the shelter. She was heartworm positive but has now completed treatment.

Dixie is full of energy and loves to RUN! She will need a large, fenced-in yard so she can do what she loves most – running and exploring for critters. She also enjoys simply lounging outside and watching the world go by. When she's not exploring, she loves to cuddle on the couch with her humans, offering the perfect blend of energy and calm affection.

Ideal Home

Dixie needs another dog in the house, as she finds comfort in canine companionship and looks to other dogs for guidance. She is a bit shy at first and can be nervous around loud, sudden noises or quick movements. Given her hunting instincts, she would likely not do well with cats. While she loves to play, older children would be best due to her initial shyness around loud noises.

Ongoing Health

Dixie was heartworm positive but has completed treatment. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Training & Support

Dixie is crate trained and housebroken. She knows her name, listens well, and comes when called. She responds to "whoa" and loves "go hunt," and also understands "no." She can be a typical Brittany on a leash and will pull as she follows her nose.
