Sandy is a one-year-old Lab/Pit Bull mix (best guess) with the most beautiful silvery-gray coat, an award-worthy smile, and a heart that is absolutely devoted to her people. If you're looking for a dog who wants to be part of the family, Sandy is your girl. Sandy adores children and loves following them around, joining in playtime, and accepting treats. She is the type of dog who wants to know what everyone is doing at all times and enjoys being part of every family activity. Sandy's favorite things include toys, carrying them around, chewing on them, playing fetch, and showing them off. She also gets the cutest zoomies, especially in the mornings when she's excited to start the day. Sandy is incredibly food motivated and will happily learn new skills for a tasty reward. She is a wonderful crate companion, settling quietly and not trying to escape. Sandy is also a great passenger in the car and is always ready for her next adventure, though she'd rather spend time at home with her family. She enjoys the company of other dogs and seems to have a soft spot for smaller canine friends. Sandy reads social cues well, respects corrections, and understands when another dog needs space. She has even lived around chickens and did well with them. Sandy is a sensitive soul who sometimes feels overwhelmed when she's the center of attention. She appreciates relationships that develop at her pace. New people and direct attention can occasionally make her unsure, but once she understands you're a friend, her sweet personality shines through.
Ideal Home
Sandy would do best with an adopter who can read her body language, respect her boundaries, and help her continue building confidence. She thrives in a busy household where she can quietly observe, participate, and feel included without constant pressure. A home with a yard would likely suit her best, as she loves having space to play fetch, explore, and enjoy her surroundings. While she loves children and has done wonderfully with them, they are not a requirement for her happiness; she's capable of forming strong bonds with adults, too.
Ongoing Health
Sandy's vetting is up to date and includes DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12-month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, and a microchip with free lifetime registration.
Training & Support
Sandy is a sensitive soul who can feel overwhelmed by direct attention. She would do best with a dog-savvy adopter who can continue helping her navigate new experiences and set her up for success. She is already crate trained and does well when crated.
