Gingersnap, or Ginger as we affectionately call her, is a delightful 9-year-old, 9lb Pekingese mix with a personality as vibrant as her name! She's a spunky and funny little lady who captured our hearts the moment we saw her. Found as a stray in Houston, she's clearly been on her own adventure and likely didn't have an easy life before rescue. We couldn't resist busting her out of the shelter to give her the loving home she deserves. Ginger is a confident and friendly girl with a low to medium energy level. She absolutely adores playing with other dogs, especially smaller, younger pups. In her foster home, she's even found a favorite playmate and spends her days trying to get him to join in on the fun – it’s truly heartwarming to watch!
Ideal Home
Ginger would thrive in a home with another playful, small dog to be her companion. Her adopter should be committed to continuing basic command training for her safety. Due to her tendency to be startled, a home without young children would be the best fit.
Ongoing Health
Gingersnap is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. She will be ready for her forever home in August.
Training & Support
Ginger is potty trained, crate trained, and has shown no signs of separation anxiety. She enjoys her crate as a quiet retreat. While she's generally well-behaved, she can sometimes be startled if approached too suddenly, letting out a small shriek. She's become less startled in her foster home as she's adjusted to her routine and humans, and continued positive reinforcement training will help her build confidence.
