Elmo is a charming 10-month-old Great Pyrenees mix with a heart full of resilience and a spirit ready for a loving home. He came to us after a difficult past where he was shot in the hip, with a bullet lodged near his spine. Fortunately, this bullet has become encapsulated, and after consulting with specialists, it's deemed safer to leave it in place. This medical history does not define Elmo; he's a healthy, comfortable, and vibrant young dog who is expected to live a long and happy life. He's sweet, quietly brave, and greets the world with trust and calm, despite all he's been through.
Ideal Home
Elmo would thrive in a home that understands his needs for comfort and relaxation over extreme physical activities. While he enjoys his walks and the company of his people and canine friends, he should avoid leaping and scaling tall heights for now. He would likely do well with dog-savvy cats, as he showed only mild interest in them. For children, we recommend ages 10 and up, or sturdier kids who can understand his medical needs and treat him gently, recognizing he's not a pony. Elmo will do best in a home that appreciates him for the wonderful companion he is, without the pressure of being an adventure athlete.
Ongoing Health
Elmo has a bullet lodged near his spine, which has become encapsulated and does not require removal. He is otherwise healthy and comfortable, with no other known health concerns.
Training & Support
Elmo is a young dog who will grow into a large adult. He enjoys his people and canine friends. We recommend a home that can provide him with sturdy children (over 10) who understand his medical history and can interact with him gently.
