If you’ve got a sweet tooth, then head on down to PACC! Xena, who used to go by the very apt name of Azucar, is a gentle, sensitive little lady who needs a bit of sweetness in her own life. This loving girl is diabetic and needs twice daily injections. She’s looking for a special family who will give her a bit of extra care, and in return, Xena will give you her whole heart! In a former home, Xena did well with kids, small and large dogs, and even cats! She was well-behaved when left home alone, was house trained, and was described as an affectionate girl who loves to be close to her people. Xena was calm and quiet in her kennel and was easy to leash. She walked politely to a yard where she explored. She’s slightly shy but approached and really appreciated gentle affection and pets. She soaks love up like a sponge! If you take things slow with her, Xena will melt into you and will melt your heart in the process. She really deserves a loving family.
Ideal Home
Xena previously did well with kids, small and large dogs, and cats. She is house-trained but needs to be let out more often due to her diabetes. She is crate-trained for overnight and learns commands quickly. Xena can be a bit head shy and prefers people to approach her rather than the other way around, but she will come when called.
Ongoing Health
Xena is diabetic and requires twice-daily insulin injections, administered 12 hours apart. Her medical care may be expensive, and this needs to be understood by potential adopters.
Training & Support
Xena is a very smart dog and responds well to instructions, learning quickly. She is food-driven and will correct behaviors like growling or lip-lifting at other dogs when told "no" in a strong voice. She needs a consistent schedule for her insulin injections.
