Maisie is a super intelligent, high-energy young dog who delights in play, exercise, walks, hikes, and adventure! She loves to ride in the car and is athletic and strong. She's enthusiastic about play and loves to show off her toys, but she doesn't want them taken from her. When she sets her mind to something, like finding a hidden toy or solving a doggie puzzle, she is determined and tenacious! She knows several commands, including "Come!" and "Get your toy!", and understands directional hand gestures. Although she is slow to warm to strangers, once she has developed trust, she displays a strong desire to be near her people. She is very affectionate, loves belly rubs, and will try to climb up and sleep on your lap, or nap at your feet. Maisie will be a very loyal and loving dog to the right family!
Ideal Home
Maisie is a high-energy girl who plays enthusiastically with medium and large dogs and would do best with dogs her size who have a similar play style. She has a high prey drive and we do not recommend a home for her with other small animal pets. Maisie doesn't know her physical limits or boundaries yet due to her enthusiasm, and while it's not aggression, she could easily knock small children over. She may do well in a home with older children as she is working on not jumping up. She would much rather sleep on the bed with her people and barks and cries if her crate door is closed.
Ongoing Health
Maisie has no known medical needs. She does resource guard her food from other dogs, but does not display similar behavior with humans.
Training & Support
Maisie is mostly house trained but does have occasional accidents. She needs someone to teach her a specific communication for needing to go potty, as her communication is the same whether she wants to go out or she's hungry. She loves a mental challenge and will thrive with obedience training. She is enthusiastic about games like "keep away" and can be tenacious when she sets her mind to something.
