Rufus IV

Rufus IV is a handsome 1.5-year-old white Boxer boy who came to us as an owner surrender because he's a bit too high-energy for the other dogs in his previous home. He's described as friendly, active, playful, and affectionate! Rufus enjoys car rides, chewing toys, lots of affection, and being with his people.

Ideal Home

Rufus would do best in a home where he can expend his energy. He is good with children, as he has interacted well with his owner's 10-year-old grandson. It is uncertain if he has lived with cats before, so he would need a home that can assess his feline friendliness. Due to his food possessiveness, he needs to be fed separately from other dogs.

Training & Support

Rufus is crate-trained and sleeps on his human's bed at night, or is fine in his crate if they must be away. He will need assistance with house-training manners. He will howl for about 30 minutes if crated while his humans are home, as he wants to be with them. Rufus is prone to counter-surfing and getting into trash if accessible, so food should be stored off counters and trash cans kept in a closed-off area. While he doesn't dig or jump fences, he is strong and has pushed gates open, so secure yard access is important.
