Lazarus, or "Lazzie" as he's affectionately known, is a 3-4 year old, 50 lb. black Lab mix with a heart of gold. He's a volunteer favorite for his calm, gentle, and quiet demeanor, and he absolutely adores lounging and cuddling on the bed with his canine companions and human family. Lazzie is already living harmoniously with a tiny chihuahua and a 70 lb. pittie, showing his adaptability with dogs of all sizes. He even enjoyed a social outing at a local bar, confidently making new friends and being wonderfully sweet with everyone he met.
Lazzie's journey to rescue was a tough one; he arrived suffering from mange and an upper respiratory infection, clearly lacking proper care. Found alone in a ditch, he's now healthy, strong, and strikingly handsome, a testament to his resilience.
Ideal Home
Lazzie would thrive in a home where he can share plenty of cuddles on the bed with his people and other dogs. He's shown to be good with dogs of all sizes and is likely to be a wonderful addition to a family with children and cats.

Training & Support
Lazzie is kennel trained and potty trained. He's also a social butterfly who enjoys meeting new people, as evidenced by his positive experience at an adoption event.

- Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
- We coordinate with multiple transport services that operate weekly to Eastern states and bi-weekly or monthly to Western states from Texas to your state or a neighboring state. These are ground transports using third-party vehicles (vans/buses) converted for dog transport. Each adopter has the ability to track the van using the app Life360, and receives updates from transport along the way. Facebook chats are another resource for staying informed about tracking dogs in transport. Please be able to use one of these available services if you wish to follow your adopted dog on transport.
- Our adoption fees are based on the vetting we put into each dog.
- Listed breed is based on a best-guess estimation by rescue and veterinary staff; DNA tests are not included in adoption.
- Our adopters are eligible to receive 50% off training with Curbed Behaviors Dog Training for programs booked within 30 days of adoption, and 25% off programs booked within 60-90 days of adoption.
- All of our adopters are invited to join our “Alum Pupdates” Facebook group, to share their story and their adorable pup with fellow Sunnyside Street Dogs adopters!

Lazzie is located in Houston, TX. Transport is included in the adoption fee, with pickup locations potentially varying across city, county, or state lines.
