Checkers

Meet Checkers, a 2-year-old, 10 lb Chihuahua mix with a spunky and affectionate personality! This little guy is up for anything, whether it's cuddling on the couch, enjoying some zoomies with his favorite toy, or embarking on an exciting neighborhood walk. Checkers is also content with some independent play or snoozing in a sunny spot. He absolutely adores people and has grown to trust his foster family and their friends. He's eager to learn new tricks and has mastered the basics like being house-trained, crate-trained, and walking on a leash. He's already learned to sit and twirl, and is currently working on "wait" and "recall." Checkers enjoys the finer things in life, like dog donuts and comfy couch spots.

Ideal Home

Checkers would thrive in a patient household where he can continue to grow into his confident and joyful self. He would do well with other dogs or as a solo canine companion. However, he would not do well with small children, as he can sometimes growl when being petted by new people.

Ongoing Health

Checkers is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered.

Training & Support

Checkers has a few quirks to be aware of: he has leash reactivity when he can't meet a dog, or when he has to walk past garbage trucks. He's also known to steal the occasional sock and can get a bit grumpy at night. With gentle encouragement, time, and space, he's sure to continue blossoming.
