Teresa is a loving, gentle, and intelligent 4-year-old Labrador mix who weighs about 42 lbs. She has been patiently waiting for a family to call her own. Teresa is sociable and enjoys human companionship. While she may be a little cautious and shy at first, this stems from a fear of rejection. Once she feels safe, her true affectionate, playful, and attention-seeking personality shines through. She adores being petted and will happily seek out cuddles. Teresa gets along well with dogs, children, men, and women, and has shown no reaction to cats in cages. She is a calm, balanced, and respectful dog who prefers peace and harmony and has never been involved in fights, even when provoked.
Teresa was found tied to a tree with a wire that had cut deeply into her neck when she was only about six months old. Despite her severe injuries and being covered in ticks, she remained gentle. After being rescued, treated, and healed, she has proven to be a wonderful, obedient, affectionate, and smart dog with a scar on her neck that never affected her sweet spirit. She has been waiting for years for someone to see her and give her the chance she deserves.
Ideal Home
- Home with a fenced backyard
- Active family that enjoys outdoor activities
- Families with a genuine intention to rescue a dog
- Families with an open mind about the needs of street animals and their need for protection and education
- Families with experience in dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer
- High tolerance and patience for rescued puppies
Ongoing Health
Teresa has a scar on her neck from a past injury, but it has not affected her spirit. She has undergone a comprehensive health protocol including being spayed, vaccinated (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm and 4DX. She is up-to-date on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm preventives.
Training & Support
Teresa is not fully house-trained and may need ongoing support in this area. She is learning to walk on a leash and collar and follows her handler. She can be nervous in a crate at first but settles down. Patience and understanding are crucial as she may have fears and anxieties from past experiences and will need time to adapt to a new environment and people.
