About Max

Meet Max, an XL Bully with an even bigger heart! After being surrendered, Max got a second chance and has been thriving in foster care. This handsome boy is happiest lounging beside his people as a professional couch potato, but he also enjoys daily walks and exploring the neighborhood. He's currently working on his leash manners, especially when squirrels and rabbits make an appearance. While he loves meeting new people, Max does best in quieter environments and isn't the type of dog who enjoys busy, crowded outings or high-traffic areas. Neighborhood walks and visitors coming to the home are much more his style.

Max lives comfortably with larger dogs and enjoys canine companionship, though his social skills can be a little awkward at times. He tends to come in enthusiastically and may skip formal introductions if another dog is excited. He matches the energy of those around him and would do best with calm, dog-savvy companions and slow, supervised introductions. He may also be able to live with a smaller dog given proper introductions and management. Once he's familiar with another dog, he's generally happy to coexist. He's truly just a lovable bulldozer who sometimes lacks awareness of his size and social etiquette.

Despite his large stature, Max is a lower-energy dog who could thrive in either an apartment or a home with a yard, as long as he receives regular exercise and quality time with his family. He's great in the car, at the vet, and at home. Max absolutely adores people and is always excited to make new friends. He would make a wonderful family companion, though due to his size, enthusiasm, and occasional clumsiness, he would do best in a home with children ages 10 and up. His large head and puppy-at-heart personality can sometimes lead to accidental bumps and knockdowns. Because of his past, Max experiences some mild separation anxiety and will benefit from a family willing to provide structure, consistency, and reassurance. In return, he'll reward you with endless affection, loyalty, and companionship. If you're looking for a sweet, goofy best friend who loves people, enjoys making new friends, and is happiest spending time with his family, Max may be the perfect match for you.
