Heelix

Heelix is a 7-year-old, 40lb blue heeler who is fiercely loyal to his person, especially women. He's a farm-loving dog who gets along with horses, cows, sheep, goats, poultry, pigs, cats, other dogs, and children. Heelix enjoys truck rides, walks on a leash, and is comfortable in his kennel. He's also happy to cuddle and snuggle, even sleeping in his human's bed.

Ideal Home

Heelix would thrive on a farm with a family looking for a protective companion or with a single woman who wants a dog that will alert them to strangers. He is not suited for a home in town, as he can be wary of unfamiliar men and may not allow strangers to pass your gate or door. An experienced heeler handler is recommended.

Ongoing Health

Heelix is up to date on all shots, flea and tick prevention, and is neutered.

Training & Support

Heelix has a tendency to nip at people's legs, a common trait in heelers, particularly when he feels he's not being watched closely enough. Consistent guidance to stay close and follow you will help him avoid trouble. He was not well-socialized initially, and while he loves children and women, some men may make him skeptical. He requires a firm and experienced handler to ensure he minds his manners. He does well in public places like Tractor Supply and hardware stores.
