Libby is a sweet German Shepherd whose story almost ended at a Houston shelter. She arrived in heartbreaking condition, barely able to walk, her body tired from years of being let down. Yet somehow, she never lost her gentle spirit. When one of our volunteers went to meet her, Libby slowly made her way over, greeted everyone with a wag, and made sure to hand out plenty of kisses. Even on one of the hardest days of her life, all she wanted was to love and be loved. Thanks to an incredible foster who opened their heart and home, Libby has had the chance to heal. As she's started feeling better, she's also started discovering the simple joys of being a dog again: playing, exploring, going for long walks, and happily hopping in the car for an adventure. If you've ever heard that German Shepherds are high-energy, Libby is here to prove there are exceptions. She's the definition of a unicorn: calm, gentle, and content just being by your side. She gets along beautifully with dogs, cats, kids, and everyone she meets. She's kennel trained, potty trained, and asks for very little beyond a soft place to rest and someone to love. After everything she's been through, Libby isn't looking for anything extravagant. Just a family who will cherish her the way she's always deserved. Libby is estimated to be 5 years old and weighs 62lbs. Even though she is a large dog, she is very gentle, doesn't pull on leash or jump, and would fit in well with people of all ages in her forever home. We think that's a pretty easy promise to keep.
