Meet Red: The Brave Boy Ready for a Fresh Start
Sometimes, a dog's journey includes a few chapters they never deserved to read. Red is a resilient, one-and-a-half-year-old soul who is officially ready to close the book on a difficult past and start his "happily ever after." Red came to us as an owner surrender with a heavy heart. He was repeatedly tormented while he was in his crate by children who would poke at him with sticks, etc. Because of this, a crate is not recommended. He does not need a crate, however, as he does not tear anything up and he seems to be somewhat potty trained. Having lived in an environment where he was mistreated by children, he arrived at the rescue full of fear, unsure of who to trust. But over the last several months, we have watched a beautiful transformation. Red has proven that with patience and kindness, a heart can heal. Red is the ultimate companion. He has a wonderful blend of independence and affection; he will happily seek out your love and snuggles, but he is confident enough to be okay on his own without separation anxiety. He gets along amazingly well with other dogs! He loves to play and would thrive with a furry sibling to show him the ropes. Red has a slight cherry eye. It doesn't bother him one bit, and it certainly doesn't affect his vision - he sees the world (and his toys!) perfectly fine. Once he knows he's safe, his "super sweet" personality truly shines. He is a gentle boy who just wants to be cherished.
Ideal Home
Because of his history, Red is looking for a calm, predictable environment where he can feel secure. We are seeking a home with no children or older teenagers only. He deserves a family that understands his need for a "safe space" and will give him the quiet, loving life he's been dreaming of.
Ongoing Health
Red has a slight cherry eye. It doesn't bother him one bit, and it certainly doesn't affect his vision.
Training & Support
A crate is not recommended for Red due to past trauma. He is not destructive and appears to be somewhat potty trained.
