Meet Wild-Child Puma
It's Puma's action movie and we're all just living in it!
Equal parts go-go-go and nap-lover, Puma loves getting down & dirty! Favorite activities include: digging holes, wresting with resident dog siblings, gnawing on big boy bones and running around + playing tag with the other dogs.
Mixed Breed
3 months old
12 lbs
Male
Fostered in Rochester, NY
Puma loves other dogs, follows their lead well, and will do best in a home with other playful and patient canine companion(s) that match his energy!
Would not recommend to a home with an older dog or impatient dog, as Puma's got energy for days, is spatially unaware of what is bothersome to fellow pups, and his manners (+ baby teeth!) are still very much a work in progress.
Puma is friendly and doesn't like being alone, but also doesn't pick up on dog social cues and self-space right away. He'll do well with continued supervision, guidance and structure — and dog siblings who aren't territorial over food or toys.
Potty Training: He follows the lead of other dogs inside-and-out all day (doggy door), but doesn't necessarily grasp the concept of going pee outside — especially if it means interrupting a game of play w the others. Continued work needed.
Crate Training: Sleeps great in his crate at night and does well when left alone for 2-2.5 hours. Anything beyond 2+ hours, and he starts to get stir-crazy and tear up blankets, pee-pads, and pulls towels/blankets inward into the crate (that may have been sitting on top/ sides of crate)
Dogs: Enjoys dog friends, but would do best with a patient pup that's active / playful, and not super senior. His siblings should understand mistakes happen & puppy manners are still a work in progress!
Bad habits to watch for/curb: Puma is a backyard digger so he's best supervised and redirected when outside. He pushes boundaries with other dogs (likes to climb all over them, wants to play when they're napping, and is carefree about walking up to their bowls at dinner time), a soft growl doesn't seem to deter him. When bored or wants attention, he sometimes gnaws on the baseboards. And he nips with his very sharp baby puppy teeth to indicate he wants to play with you and/or to show affection.

If you have the proper time, patience, and energy to dedicate to an energizerbunny type-of-puppy who needs regular supervision for the first few months, Puma will repay you with cuddles when he's ready to take 5 ! He's fun-loving, curious, adaptable, and ready to explore! (48)
