Meet Jade!
Jade is a tender-hearted three-and-a-half-year-old Labrador Retriever/American Pitbull Terrier mix with a peaceful blue coat and a quiet spirit. She thrives in a calm, predictable environment where she can feel safe. Life in a bustling household with children has proven too overwhelming for her sensitive nature, and she's now searching for a new loving home. She is beautifully crate trained and finds comfort in cozy nooks when things get too noisy or unpredictable. Stormy weather, unexpected visitors, or loud sounds can stir up her nerves, but with the right structure and gentle support, Jade shows just how deeply she can bond. She is currently managing anxiety with daily Paxil and benefits from an environment that honors her need for routine and softness. Despite her timidity, Jade is incredibly affectionate with her trusted people; there's nothing she loves more than curling up on the couch for snuggles or walking calmly through the neighborhood at your side. This medium-sized companion (about 50 pounds) also has a soft spot for Nylabones and playtime with dog friends. Jade's warm, dog-friendly personality means she could flourish alongside a confident canine companion, especially one who can show her the ropes and help her feel more secure. She has had formal obedience training and responds to "sit" and "stay" with thoughtful focus.
Ideal Home
Jade would benefit from a calm, adult-only home where her space is respected and her stress signals are understood, allowing her to feel safe and build trust at her own pace. Her next family will ideally have a fenced yard, minimal visitors, and lots of time to offer her reassurance and love. Jade would be most compatible with a home where she isn't left alone for long stretches and where she can continue to grow in confidence through positive reinforcement and consistency.
Ongoing Health
Jade is currently managing anxiety with daily Paxil and benefits from an environment that honors her need for routine and softness.
Training & Support
While Jade is incredibly affectionate with those she trusts, her heightened sensitivity to noise and sudden activity has, on rare occasions, led her to nip when startled or overwhelmed. This behavior stems from anxiety rather than aggression, and she communicates her discomfort when she feels cornered or overstimulated. She is still learning the ropes when it comes to house training and will thrive with a patient caregiver who can help guide her with encouragement and routine.
