Cain

Cain is a sweet and calm 95 lb, outdoor male Great Pyrenees mix, born on February 1, 2024. He's a sensitive boy who walks moderately well on a leash and doesn't bark as much as some of his breed, though his bark is loud! Unfortunately, Cain has proven he's not cut out for livestock guardian work and is absolutely not appropriate for it. He's also a jumper, easily clearing 4-foot fences, and may attempt higher ones as he grows. Despite his challenges, Cain is eager to please and wants to be a good companion.

Ideal Home

Cain needs a patient and knowledgeable owner who can help him transition to indoor living. Alternatively, he requires coyote-proof fencing that he cannot breach. If Cain remains an outdoor pet, he will need an appropriately sized shelter. He must be the only pet in the home.

Ongoing Health

Cain is up-to-date on all vaccines, excluding kennel cough, but including the rattlesnake vaccine. He is neutered and microchipped. His annual exam in March 2026 included a 12-month supply of heartworm and flea/tick medication, which may be transferred at cost.

Training & Support

Cain needs continued training to help him transition to indoor life. His tendency to jump fences needs to be managed through appropriate containment solutions.
