Steelia is a beautiful 1.5-year-old girl with a gentle soul who's learning the world can be safe. She came to our rescue after living outside in Detroit and giving birth to 10 puppies in the middle of winter. Because of her past, she can be fearful at first, but with patience and slow introductions, her loyal and loving personality shines through. Once she trusts you, Steelia is a total cuddle bug who forms a deep, special bond with her people. She loves being outside, running around and playing with her foster brother, and she's discovered a new love for stuffed animals. Steelia is learning more every day and continues to grow in confidence, especially with help from daycare where she's working on socialization. Steelia is a little quirky too — ceiling fans make her suspicious — and she tends to observe the world carefully before deciding it's safe. She may not be the dog who runs up to greet every stranger with a wagging tail, but the love she gives to the people she trusts is incredibly deep.
Ideal Home
Steelia thrives in a calm, quiet home and would do best with adults or older kids who understand her need for a slower pace. Because she's still building confidence, she's looking for a home with a well-adjusted dog who can be her role model and help her come out of her shell.
