A little about them
Dierdre is a sweet, gentle 7-year-old Cocker Spaniel weighing about 25 pounds. This affectionate former puppy-mill dog is a true lap dog who loves cuddles, pets, kisses, grass rolls, and leisurely sniffing. She is loyal, social, and happiest keeping her person in sight.
Dierdre is still learning about the world and home life. She startles at loud noises and sudden movements, but settles quickly with reassurance. She needs a peaceful, quiet environment and a family prepared to keep her safely secured.
Ideal Home
Dierdre needs a calm home with someone present most of the day. She would do best in a rural area, small town, or very quiet subdivision with easy access to a secure fenced yard. She can live with quieter children who understand her gentle nature and can keep doors closed. She could be the only dog or live with a calm, mature dog. She is appropriate and respectful around cats.
Dierdre is a flight risk and must remain on leash outside a very secure fenced area. She prefers short, casual walks and yard time for sniffing rather than busy environments or rough play. An early-riser home is important because she needs an immediate morning bathroom break.
Ongoing Health
Dierdre is spayed and has completed her core veterinary care. She had an extensive dental and lost seven teeth; future dental care and regular oral care may be needed. She has some reduced hearing following years of untreated ear infections, and previously had mammary masses removed.
Training & Support
Dierdre is crate trained at night and when her people are away, though she may vocalize during daytime crating and should not be crated for a full workday. She has been clean in her foster home with regular, proactive bathroom breaks, but does not yet reliably signal when she needs to go out. She is improving on leash and becoming more comfortable with car rides.
