Duke

Duke is a 3-year-old, 90 lb. male Great Pyrenees mix with a playful personality. He walks moderately well on a leash and, while he does bark, he's not the most talkative Great Pyrenees. His bark is loud, but not excessively so. Duke has unfortunately not been successful as a livestock guardian dog and is absolutely not suited for LGD work. He has a history of scaling fences that are 6.5 to 7 feet high, suggesting he's capable of jumping or climbing over them. Duke is a sweet boy who wants to please his owner.

Ideal Home

Duke needs to be the only pet in the home. He requires a patient and knowledgeable owner who can continue his training for indoor living. Alternatively, he MUST have coyote-proof fencing that he and coyotes cannot overcome. If placed as an outdoor pet, he will need an appropriately sized shelter.

Ongoing Health

Duke is up-to-date on vaccines, including a rattlesnake vaccine (excluding kennel cough). He is neutered and microchipped. His annual exam was in January 2026, and he received 12 months of heartworm and flea/tick medication, which may transfer to his new home at cost.

Training & Support

Duke needs further training to transition to indoor living. His owner must be knowledgeable and patient to help him adjust. His fence-scaling abilities mean he requires secure containment.
