Peggy is a delightful coonhound mix who joined us on 2/26/2026. She's estimated to be 2 to 3 years old and may be related to Great Dane and bluetick coonhound mixes we've cared for previously. Peggy arrived with a significant growth in one eye, which was surgically removed during her spay procedure. She's fully vetted, microchipped, and ready for her forever home!
Ideal Home
Peggy would thrive in a home that understands the unique personality of hounds – they are often guided by their noses, can be a bit stubborn, and enjoy a good vocalization. She's loving and affectionate, and needs regular exercise. While she may be okay with a well-mannered male dog, cats are likely not a good fit. Children over 5 years old should be fine with her. Apartment living is not suitable for Peggy.
Ongoing Health
Peggy's left eye was surgically removed due to a growth. Dogs are incredibly resilient, and we're confident she'll adapt wonderfully to this change. She has received all necessary veterinary care, including being spayed, microchipped, and is up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Peggy appears to have received some basic training. As with many hounds, consistency and patience will be key. She may have a tendency to be stubborn and vocal, so continued positive reinforcement training is recommended.
