TN/Pete

Pete is a sweet, 4-year-old neutered Brittany with a heart full of love to give, even though he's had a few challenges along the way. Pete was born with cataracts and was blind, but thanks to NBRAN, he received life-changing surgery and can now see the world! While his sight was restored, he did experience some anxiety, leading to behaviors like spinning and barking, which are now well-managed with medication and coping strategies. His favorite current "compulsion" is fetching; he could play ball all day long! Pete also has Pica, a condition where he occasionally eats non-food items. To keep him safe, he's trained to wear a muzzle when unsupervised indoors and is comfortable in a crate without bedding. The best part about Pete is his incredible affection for people. He thrives on cuddles, belly rubs, and leaning into your shoulder. He's also a fantastic leash walker with perfect recall and loves car rides.

Ideal Home

Pete needs to be the only pet in the home, as he doesn't do well with other dogs. He would be a wonderful companion for a retired family or a home with older children. A securely fenced yard is ideal for him to safely fetch his beloved ball and explore.

Ongoing Health

Pete is in good health and up-to-date on vaccinations. He will require daily eye drops for the rest of his life, which he readily accepts when his foster mom says "Chin."

Training & Support

Pete's compulsive behaviors are well-managed. His Pica is managed with a muzzle when unsupervised indoors. He is eager to please and responds well to guidance.

Pete is currently in Tennessee. NBRAN will provide transportation for up to 1400 miles to his new approved home.
