Reagan is a one-year-old, 105-pound Anatolian Shepherd who came to us from a hoarding situation involving over 40 dogs. While the dogs were fed and kept reasonably clean, they missed out on crucial socialization and everyday home life due to their elderly owners being overwhelmed. Despite his difficult start, Reagan has a surprisingly good attitude and is the most confident dog from the entire group! He's still learning about household routines, strange noises, and all the odd human inventions we call "normal," but he's ahead of the curve compared to his peers. Reagan enjoys people, seeks attention, and is much more engaged than we anticipated for a dog with his background. He's not a "project" in the daunting sense, but rather a young, under-socialized giant breed dog who needs a patient, structured, and sensible owner. He has the right temperament to become a well-adjusted house dog, and he's sweet, friendly, and eager to figure things out.
Ideal Home
Reagan would benefit from a home with a confident, friendly dog who can help him continue to learn. He is good with other dogs and cats. Due to his still-developing nature and his impressive size (he'll easily be over 100 pounds when fully grown), we are recommending a home with children over 10. He is a large livestock guardian breed with size, opinions, and a strong sense of self-preservation, so his adopter must be prepared for that. A securely fenced yard is required.
Ongoing Health
No specific health concerns were mentioned in his listing.
Training & Support
Reagan is working on becoming a normal house dog and needs consistency, kindness, and time to build a deep, loyal bond.
