At 6 years old and 37 pounds, Conchita is a gentle, sensitive girl who is still learning that the world can be a kind and safe place. Life has taught her to be cautious, so she isn't the type of dog who will immediately run into your arms. Instead, she'll quietly observe from a distance, taking everything in at her own pace. But for the person willing to give her the time she needs, the reward is something truly extraordinary. Conchita is both house-trained and crate-trained, and her crate has become her little sanctuary - a place where she feels safe and secure. She has wonderful house manners, settles beautifully into a routine, and has been respectful of her foster home. She's quiet, rarely barks or whines, and has proven to be a calm, easy companion indoors. Although Conchita currently lives successfully with older, dog-savvy children, her sensitive nature means she'd be happiest in a quieter home without young children. Loud environments and sudden commotion can be overwhelming for her, and she thrives when life is predictable and peaceful. Conchita has never shown aggression. When she's frightened, her instinct is simply to freeze or move away. She isn't looking for confrontation - she's looking for reassurance. Because of this, she'll need an adopter who understands that trust can't be rushed. Every small step forward is a victory, and every moment of patience helps her believe a little more in the people around her. And then, something wonderful begins to happen. As Conchita grows more comfortable, her playful personality starts to emerge. She'll race around the yard with joyful zoomies, invite you into a game of chase, and gently use her paws or softly mouth during play, reminding you that beneath her timid exterior has always been a happy, playful dog waiting for the chance to shine.
