Dex is a handsome 1.5-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who is as smart and loyal as they come. He's a young dog who forms deep bonds with his people and thrives when he feels included and secure. Dex is playful, intuitive, and has a wonderful knack for reading social cues. He loves a good game of tug-of-war and fetch, and he’s a great playmate for dogs of all sizes. When another dog isn't interested in playing, Dex is respectful and backs off immediately. He walks calmly on leash, without pulling, and shows no reactivity towards other dogs. Dex is also incredibly intelligent and eager to learn, responding wonderfully to training. He enjoys having structure and clearly likes having a job to do. This smart boy is fully house-trained and crate-trained, happily going into his crate when asked and sleeping soundly through the night. He can also be left out in the house when his exercise needs are met and doesn't exhibit destructive behaviors. Dex is incredibly loving and affectionate with his people, enjoying cuddles and showing his devotion once he bonds.
Ideal Home
Dex would thrive in a home with adult adopters who enjoy walks and outdoor activities. He needs a home without cats or small animals due to his strong prey drive. He would also do best in an adult-only home or with dog-savvy teens who understand canine boundaries, as he can take time to warm up and may growl when unsure around new people.
