River

River is a charming, approximately 1-3 year old female Blue Heeler mix, soon to be spayed, who is ready to trade her mama duties for a lifetime of love! She recently raised a litter of seven puppies, and now it's her turn to find her forever home. River is incredibly lovable and bonds deeply with her people, but she is also protective of her home. Because of this, we don't recommend a home where strangers are frequently coming and going.

Ideal Home

River would do best in a home where she can be the center of attention and doesn't have a lot of new faces coming and going. She has been good with foster kids and tends to do better with male dogs. Introducing her to other dogs should be done slowly.

Ongoing Health

River has some old scars on her face, indicative of a past where she had to be tough. She is spayed and vaccinated.

Training & Support

This smart girl knows commands but will benefit greatly from one-on-one obedience training to help her build confidence and further solidify her manners, especially given her past living situation. She is known to be an escape artist, so her new family will need to plan accordingly when leaving her alone. A home that can provide lots of one-on-one attention and engaging, treat-based training will help her truly shine!
