Meet Sammy!

Sammy is a charming 3-year-old Lhasa mix, weighing about 17 pounds, with a truly unique and beautiful coat of gray, silver, and cream. He came to us in March 2025 when a breeder closed down, and he's been blossoming into a cherished companion ever since. Sammy is a quiet and independent soul who likes to observe new things from a distance. He's not one to rush into things, preferring to warm up on his own terms. But once he trusts you, you'll be delighted by his sweet morning greetings and his steadfast loyalty, especially if you happen to have a tasty treat – cheese is his favorite!

Ideal Home

Sammy thrives in a calm and understanding environment. He does best with patient adults who will give him the space and time he needs to feel secure. He tends to bond more quickly with men but can build trust with women over time. Because he gains confidence from other dogs, he needs a home with at least one friendly canine companion. A fenced yard is also essential, as he enjoys spending time outdoors. While he can be playful, especially with other dogs, he's equally happy napping on the couch. He's not a big cuddler but shows his affection in his own quiet, consistent ways.

Ongoing Health

Sammy is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Training & Support

Sammy can be fearful of new people, noises, and experiences, and in the past, he has tended to hide or avoid situations. He has made great progress, and while he has occasionally nipped when very scared, this behavior has become rare. With continued patience and a predictable routine, he will keep gaining confidence. He is potty trained and does well with other dogs. He is generally low-key during the day. He is not yet leash-trained and will need a home committed to helping him build this skill over time.
