About DOOLEY

Meet Dooley – Playful, Loyal, and Ready to Be Your Sidekick! Dooley is a 1-year-old, medium-sized Labrador Mix with a high energy level and a heart full of love. He's a smart, spirited boy who thrives in an active home where he can be your loyal companion. Dooley loves to play fetch, chew on his favorite stuffed pig ball, and shower his humans with affection – especially if belly rubs are involved! He's house-trained and crate-trained, finding his crate to be a safe and comfortable space. Dooley is a social dog who enjoys playing with small and senior dogs, though his play style can be a bit boisterous. He's respectful indoors and has his own toys, but he's still learning to resist the temptation of counter-surfing and showing protectiveness over food and toys. While he may be cautious and bark at new people at first, he warms up quickly, especially when a game of fetch is on the horizon! Dooley already knows several commands, including Sit, Stay, Come, Down, and "Go to bed." He's working on his leash manners and not reacting to other dogs, and he's making great progress! Dooley can get nervous with loud noises and sometimes experiences car sickness, so shorter trips are recommended. He absolutely adores playing in the rain and water, but hasn't tried out a pool yet. His foster family describes him as super smart, incredibly social, and a great watchdog who is always up for a cuddle after a day of fun.

Ideal Home

Dooley would do best with an experienced adopter who can provide consistency, plenty of exercise, and a secure environment where he can thrive. A home with a playful dog sibling and a yard for fetch would be ideal. He would also prefer a family who appreciates a loyal, affectionate, and lively companion. He has not been tested with cats, and his suitability with children is unknown.

Ongoing Health

Dooley gets nervous with loud noises like thunder and sometimes barks at them. He also gets carsick occasionally, so short trips are best for now.

Training & Support

Dooley is still learning to resist counter-surfing or protectiveness around food or toys, and he needs continued guidance in these areas. On leash, he’s still learning not to react to other dogs but is improving daily. He also gets nervous with loud noises like thunder and sometimes barks at them.
