Maya

Maya is a loving, intelligent, and obedient 1-year-old Labrador mix who weighs around 30 lbs. She's energetic and sociable, enjoying playtime, walks, and lots of affection. Maya can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but she quickly melts into your arms once she feels comfortable. She's playful, joyful, loyal, and has a funny, charming personality. Maya was rescued in March 2024 with her siblings, having been found in a field when she was just born. She is crate and leash trained.

Ideal Home

Maya would thrive in an active household that enjoys outdoor activities. She needs owners who have a fenced backyard and are experienced with dog behavior and training. A home with high tolerance and patience for rescued animals is essential. Potential adopters should have an open mind about the needs and potential behaviors of rescue animals, understanding they may require protection and education.

Ongoing Health

Maya has undergone a comprehensive health protocol, including being spayed/neutered, receiving DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, and deworming. She is microchipped, has a negative 4DX test and heartworm test certificate, and is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive treatment for fleas, ticks, and heartworms. She also has a health certificate and vaccine booklet.

Training & Support

Maya is not fully house-trained and may need continued reinforcement in this area. Potential adopters should understand that rescued animals may have experienced trauma and will need an adjustment period. Patience, understanding, and consistent communication with the Wags team are crucial for Maya's successful integration into a new home.

• A home check (virtual or in-person) will be scheduled.
• A virtual meet-and-greet will be arranged to meet Maya and ensure a good fit.
• A trial adoption period will be provided with clear instructions for integration.

Transporation

Maya is currently fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on the next cross-country trip. Transport to the adopter's home address is available for an additional fee.
