About Annie

Annie is a sweet, spunky 3-4 month old Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup weighing 7 lbs. She is estimated to be around 20 lbs when fully grown. Annie adores being doted on and is always the first to investigate new things. She's a curious, observant, and confident pup who thrives on exploring. A social butterfly, she loves meeting new people and dog friends, making her perfect for an active family that enjoys including their furry friend in everyday life. Her laid-back demeanor allows her to adapt easily to different environments and enjoy family adventures. No matter what she's doing, Annie is happy as long as she's with her humans. She can be active and playful or relaxed and mellow, and she's great at entertaining herself when her foster mom works from home. Annie would fit beautifully into a variety of homes, whether you enjoy outdoor adventures or cozy evenings at home.

Ideal Home

Annie is medium energy, with short bursts of puppy energy that are quickly satisfied with exercise and play. She loves mental stimulation games, exploring the backyard, and playing with her toys. She also loves playing with other dogs, but is happy to entertain herself if she can't find a playmate. Annie enjoys running and exploring, but also loves cuddles. Her ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys. She's about to start teething, so plenty of appropriate chew toys will be a plus! As she masters leash skills, she'll be excited to join her humans for neighborhood walks and longer nature trails. Annie is dog, cat, and kid-friendly. She has lived with large and small dogs and loves to play. She would be a wonderful addition to a home with another playful dog, or she would thrive as the center of attention. If she's the only dog, she'll benefit from frequent playdates or doggy daycare. She knows how to respect boundaries with older dogs, but might be too much for a senior dog not used to puppy energy. Annie would do well with kids of all ages and would love to play fetch and cuddle with them. She's loving and playful, so more people to give her affection and playtime is a bonus! She would do best with older children experienced with smaller breeds who know how to handle her carefully, as she can be wiggly when excited and picked up. Because she is starting to teeth, her humans will need to watch that she doesn't chew on human toys. Annie has been around cats and is friendly towards them. She would do well in a home with a cat who is comfortable around dogs. Since she's a playful puppy, she'd do best with dog-friendly cats who have lived with dogs before, as she will want to play. Annie's ideal home would include her in daily life and provide plenty of love, exercise, and attention. A fenced yard for running and playing is ideal. She'd thrive in a home with another playful, friendly dog and some kids to cuddle and play with, but would also be happy as an "only child." No public dog parks for Annie. She would love fun adventures and outings around town or visiting Sniff Spots for enrichment. A home where someone works from home or has a hybrid schedule is ideal, but she cannot go more than 8+ hours without playtime and potty breaks, so a dog sitter or daycare is recommended for longer work days.

Training & Support

Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, and has started on leash training. She sleeps in her kennel at night and naps in it during the day. She loves going on outings and is carried in a doggy pouch. She will need additional practice to perfect her leash walking skills. She alerts her foster family when she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. Using a doggy doorbell is recommended to help her learn to notify you when she needs to go out. She needs a consistent schedule and to be taken out every few hours initially, but she adjusts quickly to new routines. She would love a family that is home more often than not, but she would do well with a dog walker or doggy daycare if her humans work outside the home.
