Flora, a 3-year-old spayed female Carolina Dog mix weighing 46 pounds, is a bundle of playful energy and affection just waiting to find her forever home! Affectionately nicknamed Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, she loves to wrestle and be chased, and could play for hours. She adores interacting with other dogs and has experience with a range of sizes. Flora is also a total love bug who enjoys snuggling and will reward you with love and companionship. She's a smart girl who loves learning new tricks and is very submissive and affectionate.
Ideal Home
Flora would thrive in a moderately active home with someone who is often around, enjoys walks or jogs, and will play fetch with her. She needs dedicated outdoor playtime to do her best inside. An ideal home would have no other pets, or a well-balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level. While she adores the 8-year-old child in her foster home, she is nervous around new children and can be fearful of strangers, especially when they move quickly. Therefore, an adult-only household might be best at this time. She also needs an owner who will continue positive reinforcement training to help with her anxiety and is patient with her progress.
Ongoing Health
Flora is housebroken and has no issues being unsupervised outside of a crate. While she has shown some anxiety in a crate at home, she has been perfectly fine when boarded. She is fed separately from other dogs and is learning to take treats gently. Flora is terrified of storms and will seek shelter when they occur.
Training & Support
Flora has shown some leash reactivity, which her foster parents have been working on with positive reinforcement and minimal stimuli. She walks much better in calm environments and will need consistent training to help her with leash skills and feeling safe around new dogs and stimuli. She may do best as the only pet in the home, as it took her some time to befriend the resident pup.

Transportation
Flora is currently in a foster home in Houston, Texas. She can be transported out of state once an adopter is approved. Transports run every few weeks, and she will be scheduled for the next available transport once approved.
